Nearly 100 trade unionists joined the NSSN lobby of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the London headquarters on 11th December 2012. To build support for a 24-hour general strike against the ConDem government's austerity agenda of cuts to jobs and services. The NSSN calls on the TUC's general council, meeting inside, to set the date for 24 hours of joint, widespread strike action in the public and private sector.

The 'March for a Future: Defend EMA, Fight for Jobs and Education' took place in Belfast on the 6th of October 2012. Over 300 young people and trade unionists took part in the march which crossed the peaceline between the Shankill and Falls areas. The route was chosen in commemoration of the 1932 Outdoor Relief Strike and in protest at youth unemployment and cuts to education.
