Youth Fight for Jobs PICKET FOR JOBS: 4.15pm Thursday 18th February @ 39-49 Adelaide Street, Belfast
Youth Fight for Jobs campaigners will meet with Reg Empey, Minister for Employment & Learning, on Thursday 18th February at 4.30pm at the department’s office at 39-49 Adelaide Street.
Youth Fight for Jobs has held a number of pickets outside the office of the Minister to highlight youth unemployment and exploitation of young workers. Paddy Meehan, one of the young people to meet the Minister said, “This is an opportunity to raise with the Minister the vital need to create real and useful jobs starting with the 17,000 young people currently signing on. If he fails to listen then he, and the entire Assembly Executive, are throwing an entire generation of young people on the scrap heap.”
“We intend to raise with the Minister a scandal we have uncovered that the schemes of his department instead of creating work is costing young people jobs!”
Youth Fight for Jobs is calling on young people and trade unionists to attend a picket of the Department of Employment and Learning beginning at 4.15pm on Adelaide Street.
